Retatrutide timeline
Current statusInvestigational. TRIUMPH-1 and TRIUMPH-2 now have peer-reviewed phase 3 publications in populations without and with type 2 diabetes. The TRIUMPH-1 abstract reports weight loss and improvements in prespecified sleep-apnea and knee-pain substudies; these are distinct endpoints. Lilly’s Q1 2027 U.S. filing target remains a sponsor forecast, not approval or a launch date.
Weight, sleep-apnea and knee-pain results
The publication reports 2,339 randomized adults with overweight or obesity without diabetes. At 80 weeks, treatment-policy weight changes were −17.6%, −23.7% and −25.0% for 4, 9 and 12 mg, versus −3.9% with placebo.
Prespecified substudies included 243 participants with obstructive sleep apnea and 574 with knee osteoarthritis. The abstract reports improved apnea–hypopnea index at 9 and 12 mg and improved knee pain; pain relief does not establish cartilage regeneration, and apnea reduction does not establish cardiovascular-event benefit. Gastrointestinal adverse events were most common. Full text and supplements were inaccessible in this check, so additional safety tables and uncertainty intervals were not reconstructed.
